Rediscovery!

Over the course of the last few days I have rediscovered some of my favorite bands from back in 8th grade. I found my Death Cab for Cutie CD, along with both of my She Wants Revenge albums, and have begun listening to them in the car on the way to and from school.

Now not only have I refreshed my love for Indie and Alternative music, but also my love for Ben Gibbard and Justin Katz. Their voices can put me to sleep or get me jazzed up before a weekend party. And you can probably guess which is which…

Song of the day: Tear You Apart by She Wants Revenge. This song is amazing, it definately reminds me of Carrie, but in a good way.

Having just returned from a week-long vacation in Tennessee, I find myself listening to all of the songs I missed over the past few days… Wanna know what comes up on my list? Birthday Sex by Jeremih, Best I Ever Had by Drake, I’m on a Boat by the Lonely Island, and Mother Lovers by Andy Samburg and Justin Timberlake. Two of them are about sex since I haven’t seen my boyfriend (Chaise) since last Saturday, and the other two are dumb songs.

I have come to know and love the Lonely Island over the course of the summer. Mostly through the help of my freinds Lyndsey and Daniel. They are awesome, and I love singing at the top of my lungs with them as we ride through town in my Bonneville.

Song of the day: Best I Ever Had by Drake. It’s kind of dirty but it reminds me of Chaise so… I love it!

I have tried very hard to get into the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. It is very difficult, however, because I detest Meyer’s writing style and the general plot of the books. And after reading the second one, I have grown to hate the main character (and her name), Bella, more than any other character in the literary world. At first I thought she was an independent, responsible young-adult who had everything under control. And then I read the second book.

As you have probably heard, Edward leaves Bella unexpectedly (pshh…) at the beginning of New Moon. I expected, from what I had heard from my friends, that she was a strong person, able to recover quickly from something so devastating. But, of course, I was wrong. As soon as Edward leaves, Bella is rocketed into a 5 month depression. She only begins to come out of it after spending a thousand boring days with her old friend Jacob Black and using him to take part in a few minorly rebelious activities, which she only does so that she can hear the voice of Edward warning her NOT to take part in these activities.

It takes the author FOREVER to get to the point of the story. I am frequently frustrated when I figure some key point out 5 chapters before Bella even begins to connect the information. She is so unbelievably slow! I swear, she is mentally deficient. That’s probably the only reason Edward can’t hear her thoughts.

Also, she is a heartless, soul-sucking bitch when it comes to poor Jacob. The sexual tension between the two of them is undeniable and she does nothing to turn down the heat. Many times throughout the book, and not just when they are alone, he takes her hand or wraps his arms around her and she does nothing to define the boundaries in their relationship. She complains over and over again that he puts more weight on these actions than she, but still she lets them go on without saying anything. And the numerous occasions when she couldn’t decide whether or not to take him more seriously made my heart ache for that poor, sweet boy. Once, they were enbracing in the car (just makeout already!) and she was debating whether or not to kiss him. But, of course, she waited too long. Another time, in the heat of the moment, he had her head in his hands, about to kiss her, and she panicked! I hate Bella Swan…

I also hate how the author adds all this extra crap that doesn’t need to be there and then leaves out some of the most important things. For instance, Meyer is overly descriptive about eyebrow possitioning, smile types, and face touching, but when it comes to kissing scenes and romance she couldn’t describe to save her life!

The end result and main points of the story thoroughly depressed me and made me sick to my stomach. The fact that Bella was too big of an idiot to accept Jacob’s unconditional love and affection made me want to cry! And when she decided to push aside all of the horrible things that happen to her when Edward is around and take him back I felt the sudden urge to punch Stephenie Meyer in the forehead. I am definately on Team Jacob and my mind will not be changed by a strikingly beautiful, marble-hearted god. In fact, I kind of wanted Edward to die at the hands of the Volturi because I want Bella to end up with Jacob, the good guy. But, of course, that will never happen.

Song of the day: Electric Feel by MGMT. I heard this song while shopping at American Eagle yesterday and wrote it down, it was so good. It is now my MySpace song and my new favorite song.

Sucked. I wasn’t a suck-suck movie, but it was definately not good by any standard. I went to see it with Rachel last night and was very disappointed. The film is like 3 hours long and it sucks the whole way through.

Maybe if there had been more ass-kicking and lest jib-jab… All they did was talk about “the end of the world” and how Dr. Manhattan was going to save them all. He didn’t, as it turns out… Like he could have, he was nake the whole time. The only thing I will remember about that film is Manhattan’s shinky-dink penis glowing blue and swaying in the breeze.

Dr. Manhattan is involved with the former Ms. Jupiter, who is also loved by Dan (AKA. Nite Owl). At one point in the movie she and the doctor were about to have sex and the whole time I was thinking, “How is this going to work?” Manhattan is dead by definition and she is definately not. How can you have sex with a dead guy? Also, isn’t he a little bit radioactive? I mean he glows blue…

The only “good” part of the movie was the sex scene. Dan and Lori got completely naked in the flying submarine and started gettin’ it on. And although Dan isn’t the hottest of the superheroes, his buff bod and steamy lips dip not disappoint. In fact, if I had to choose a Wathman to date/do it would be Dan.

But my favorite of the superheroes, as far as powers and abilities go, was probably Rorschach. Though he was the smallest of the group, he definately kicked the most ass. And after all, isn’t that what superheroes are for? He has a deep, dark voice and a mysterious ink-blot face. Through the whole film I was wondering how his mask kept moving even when he took it off… When he did take it off the audience could see that he was only a small, red-headed man scarred and tormented by his past.

I was also amazed by the alarming beauty of Silhouette. Even though she was only in the movie during the opening credits and during a later flashback, she made the biggest impression on me and was the one I will remember for the longest time. Too bad she and her girlfriend were killed for being lesbians.

Song of the day: Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright. This is the song that was playing while they were getting it on in the hoverthing. From now on, every time I hear this song I am going to think of Dan. He’s pretty hot.

I hate Chemistry.

It is so damn boring and it doesn’t even make since. I swear, I think my teacher is retarded because she doesn’t even know how to explain the answers she gets for half of the work we do. I have failed almost every text in that class this semester because she doesn’t teach us what we need to know for the tests. We show up after studying all night to find that nothing we have studied is on the test. It’s all different stuff!

Song of the day: Yeah! by Usher. Heard on the way to school this morning. Blahh…

…was the awesomest movie I have seen in a year or more. It was amazing! Liam Neeson is a beast when it comes to kicking ass and taking names. He is a brutally manipulative spy who was specifically trained to get the job done. He is the best at what he does, he cannot be stopped!

When Brian’s (Liam Neeson) daughter is abducted by Albanian pimps on a summer trip to Europe with her cousin he swings into action, taking shit from nobody and getting the information he needs through brute force and a kickass set of ninja skills. He delivers dozens of crotch-kicks and karate chops to the throat. My eyes were as big as grapefruits throughout the entirety of the movie. My sister and I could only think about how great it would be to be a spy and to be able to beat people up like he does.

Possibly my favorite part of the movie is when he finds the scout who informs the kidnappers about “new merchandise”. The man, Peter, is getting into a taxi with a prospective victim when Brian jumps in before her and demands the driver to speed away. Instead, he wimps out and runs for the cops, but not quick enough. Brian begins punching Peter in the kidneys and demanding to know where his daughter is. Peter’s accomplice steps in and pulls Brian out of the cab where he tries, and fails of course, to save his friend. Brian delivers a precise karate chop to the neck, taking the man down and rendering him helpless to defend his friend.

Overrall this movie gets a 5+ on the 5 Star Scale. Everyone should watch this movie before it leaves the theatre next week. Brian is definately way better than James Bond, maybe not hotter but definately awesomer.

Song of the day: Mad by Ne-Yo. It’s been stuck in my head, but that’s the extent of why it made the list today. I hate this song.

I’m 17!

I finally turned 17 yesterday… Surprisingly, I do feel different, but not in a good way. Getting older scares me. I dread the day when I have to move out of my parents’ house and start providing for myself. It’s not the being alone part that scares me, I hate being around other people all the time. I am afraid that I will fail. I don’t want to have to come back to South Shore and live out the rest of my pathetic life with my parents.

College will be a great experience for me, I can already tell. At least, it will if I get to go to my dream school, the University of Findlay. They have the best Pre-Vet program in the entire world, but tuition is over $25000/year… My dad would rather I start out somewhere small and cheap, e.i. Morehead State or UK. But I want to get the best education I can possibly achieve. And I won’t be able to do that at Morehead. Blech…

Song of the day: Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful? by Kelly Pickler. It’s been stuck in my head since I got to school this morning. Have no idea why, just can’t get it out of my head. And since it sort of fit with the topic for today, it became the song of the day.

My birthday is on 6 days! I am so excited to be 17! It would be really awesome to get a 2005 Scion xB, or Guitar Hero World Tour, or just some money. At least I know what I am getting from Dad, he ordered my shoes online from FinishLine. I can’t wait until they get here so I can premier then at my party this weekend. My firends and I (the girls, at least) are staying the night at Shawnee Lodge in a room. There is a pool, a hot tub, and a super steamy sauna.

Song of the day: Diva by Beyonce. I heard it on the way to school and almost wrecked because I was dancing so hard. Tihs song is a little strange, but that’s what makes it so awesomely unique.

So, I just started this website where I can sell t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, bags, and mugs through cafepress.com…and nobody has hit it up yet! This makes me sad…it could be because I only have one shirt design on my site, though.

Why am I tell ing you this, you ask? Because I need your help. I need you to come up with ideas for shirts and things like that. It can be anything you want it to be except pornographic images and copywrighted images. Besides that, the sky is the limit!

So please, come up with some ideas, anything you want, and sent them to me in your comments. You can also request a design and I will make it for you and you can then purchase it from my site. I need ideas fast!

I am so happy that Obama won the election, he really is the “change we need” (har, har)! I beleive he will be a great president no matter what anyone else says about him. Besides, McCain is just another George Bush. And Sarah Palin is mentally deficient!

This is a landmark election for us, the first African American president ever elected. He is also the first president not born in the contiguous United States, since he was born in Indonesia. I am so glad that I am old enough to know how important this election is to our country. I just wish I was old enough to vote!

Song of the day: Today’s song is not really a song, but a speech. It is Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s famous “I Have a Dream” speech.
